Weekly Recap: Enjoying the Journey (1/28-2/3)

Enjoying the journey even if the destination is unclear

When the journey has views like this, it’s hard not to be at least somewhat motivated

I’m training for absolutely nothing right now. Nothing. I have no set schedule (other than one that’s self-imposed), I have no idea when my next race will be, and I’m not exactly sure where I’m going. And I am thoroughly enjoying it.

It’s funny that a lack of schedule sometimes actually increases my motivation. Maybe that’s because I’m a Rebel, according to The Four Tendencies?

This actually holds true in many areas of my life, big and small. Give me a schedule or impose restrictions on me and not much will get done. I mean, I’m talking down to recipes in the kitchen. Give me a recipe and I’ll give you a million ways to change it. Extrinsically motivated I am not. The fire has to come from within and I have to deem it somehow worthy of my time.

So anyway, now that the fog of January has lifted and I’m kind of chugging along here in 2019, I’m feeling pretty good about my non-goal goals. Outside of managing to work out (running and strength/weights, thanks Orangetheory Fitness), I’ve been a sketching machine lately. Just simple sketches, mostly jewelry ideas. And I’ve actually made some jewelry prototypes. Progress. Baby steps for this Rebel.

And, in no support of any goal or non-goal whatsoever, I also enjoyed some delicious oysters mid-week at Nico while attending a fundraising event to help save the turtles. Any week I eat oysters is a good week (it’s a fairly low bar around here for good weeks).

Nico - probably one of my favorite restaurants in Charleston/Mount Pleasant

Oysters. Yum. ‘Nuff said.

As for my blog…I also managed to get some clarity around that. I have ideas for where I’m headed (and it’s definitely not all running all the time). But you know, I’ll get there when I get there. Stick around, though. It could get interesting.

Oh, and don’t forget to catch up my recent post:

Beagle It (just a little bit)

How was your week? What are your goals for this year? Have you heard of The Four Tendencies?
