Weekly Recap: Save the Light Half Marathon Training Week 2 (12/4-12/10)
Getting moving again
Last week I wrapped up week 2 of Save the Light training. It was my last week of work at the full-time job before 3 weeks of vacation, and we were finishing up the first phase of big project. So, I was a bit busy and that interfered with my workout schedule. But it happens. It wasn't a stellar training week, but I did what I could.
Workout summary
Monday | Off |
Tuesday | Run - Easy 5 miles |
Wednesday | Bodyflow |
Thursday | Off |
Friday | Off | Saturday | Easy run - 3.12 miles at 8:57 |
Sunday | Easy 3.25 miles at 8:53 |
Totals | 3 runs / 11.37 miles 1 strength workout |
I tweaked my back on Wednesday, so I had to take Thursday and Friday off to rest it. This is the same issue that caused me to start visiting the chiropractor back in the summer. I think I need to start going back weekly instead of every 2 to 3 weeks. Same for Stretch Zone. And maybe I need to throw in some bi-weekly massages. Maintenance is important!
After a crazy work week, we packed our weekend with lots of holiday fun.
On Saturday we went to the Mount Pleasant Holiday Market and I picked up a few Christmas gifts (shop local!), then in the evening we went out with friends to The Gin Joint and to see A Christmas Carol at The Dock Street Theatre.
On Sunday, we went to Tavern & Table for Brunch with Santa. B wasn't afraid of Santa this year and told him he wanted all of the toys. Ha!
Little dude was up several times during the night on Saturday with an upset tummy, but thankfully felt better by morning so he could enjoy his brunch with Santa. That left me pretty exhausted and I ended up accidentally sleeping until 10. So I missed my long run, but I did manage to get a short one in in the evening. I did a quick 3-miler around our neighborhood and enjoyed the holiday lights. Even though it was short, it was my best run of the week!
And that's a wrap on this week. Holiday fun and festivities with a few workouts thrown in. I'm counting on the next three weeks to get me back on track since I have off from my full-time job and my schedule won't be quite as crazy. I still have some freelance projects to do as well as packing up the house to move, but I should still have more wiggle room in my schedule than the past several weeks.
How was your week? Did you go to any fun holiday events?
