Weekly Recap: Save the Light Half Marathon Training Week 1 (again) - 11/27-12/3

SYSTEM REBOOT

After major system failure this fall with training, I decided it was time for a full system reboot. I took two weeks to rest and reset my body and then eased back in this week. And it went decently well in spite of some work/life craziness.

Last week should have been a taper week for Kiawah, but instead it was week 1 (again, officially) for Save the Light Half Marathon training. I'm so disappointed I'm missing Kiawah this year. They have so many fun events and it really is one of the best races and race weekends I've ever experienced. This year they added a holiday market with local crafters and vendors, too. But sometimes life happens, and I'm moving on with a new plan.

In honor of kicking off my new training cycle, I bought new running shoes. It's been so long since I bought new shoes and I really, really needed them. Mine were in sad shape and really worn out.

While I didn't quite get in all my workouts and had some issues getting into the overall workout groove, I'm happy to report that the reason for that was not because of illness! Yessss.

The main reasons for missing workouts were just straight-up work and life busy-ness. I'm wrapping up a big project at the day job before I'm on vacation for three weeks (can't wait!), so early in the week I worked some longer hours.

We also closed on our house on Wednesday, which took away half a day of work that I had to get crammed in somewhere else so I could finish what needed to be done. But yay for the new house!

Our new house!

Our new house!

We're not moving into the house until January, but we've been taking some things over gradually since it's right up the street from our current house. And I've got paint samples hanging all over the walls to try to decide the right shades (so many options for white!). I can't wait to move in and start all of the customization that we couldn't do during the build.

We also took the dogs over to check out their new digs. They approved.

Now that we own the house, it's time to make some more upgrades - like choosing the perfect shade of white paint!

My week wasn't all work craziness, though! I did manage to get out with friends a few times. On Wednesday evening, we went out for dinner with our realtor, whose family also happens to be friends of ours (and his wife is also our dog's awesome vet!). And on Saturday, I had a girls' night out. Those are always a welcome event!

I have one more week of work before vacation to get through, and I'm hoping I'll be able to get my groove back with workouts and strength training.

How was your week?
