Weekly Recap: Training Reboot Week 19 (7/30-8/5)

Birthday Week!

I wrapped up this week by turning another year older, and my birthday celebrations from last weekend continued this week. Thankfully, my work week wasn't quite as crazy as the prior week, and the coming weeks should calm down a little bit as well as I wrap up some client work.

I also took inventory of 2018 in a mid-year(ish) recap. It's been an interesting year and I've accomplished a lot. Check out that post if you missed it, and while you're checking out old posts, visit my 40 Before 40 list (I've now got exactly one year to get it done).

And as you probably can tell, I gave this blog a little bit of a redesign. I'm still tweaking things and making some other updates, but in general, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out!

In my running life, I continued to dodge thunderstorms since our weather is still insane. Because of that, I missed one run completely and another was shorter than it was supposed to be. And Saturday I got caught in a monsoon. Luckily there was no thunder or lightning, but the it was pouring and the roads were flooding, so I basically went for a swim.

I only have a few more weeks where I skip out on runs since real training officially starts in August, so hopefully this nutty weather will calm down a bit. Or the treadmill gods will shine down upon me and a treadmill will make its way to my house.

Post workout happy hour

In my social life, I had a somewhat busy week (that's a good thing!). On Tuesday a friend and I went to F45 for a workout, then to Ardoa Wine Bar for happy hour. Wine dispensers, people. Like a yogurt shop for grown-ups. Amazing.

Girls night out at Crave

Saturday night, I went out for girls night with some friends and on Sunday, I headed to Nico with my family to stuff myself with oysters. Because a birthday is not complete unless I've stuffed myself with oysters.

Brunch cocktail with a car on the table and a 4-year-old in the background. This is 39.

Sunday evening, we took Ruby Skye to the beach for the first time. She wanted to eat the seagulls, and was cool with getting her paws wet but not much more. Overall, a success!

So in general, August is off to a good start. By month's end I'll be back in actual training mode as opposed to rebooting and maintaining. And as long as I don't have to dodge lightning, I think I'm ready.

How was your week? Are you dodging thunderstorms and flooding where you live? Have you started fall training yet?

As always, I'm linking up with HoHoRuns and Taking the Long Way Home for the Weekly Wrap series.
