Weekly Recap - Fall Base Building Week 2 (8/14-8/20)
This post is alternatively titled: Crazy Vacation Week
I always try to get in some running during vacations, but it's also always a crapshoot as to how much will actually happen. Because our vacation was back home in Lancaster, PA, I knew it would be incredibly busy trying to see everyone and it would include a ton of walking (I got in over 10,000 steps on days I didn't run and close to 20,000 on the days I did). Lots. Of. Walking.
I loved all of the walking and I think actually lost weight on this vacation. We stayed in downtown Lancaster where we used to live, and I remembered how much I miss being able to walk absolutely everywhere and barely even need a car except for trips out of the city to visit family or for other activities. But the city itself has everything you need on a daily basis. I miss city life so much!
My only disappointment in the week was the weather. It ended up getting hotter as the week progress and by Friday, we had triple digit heat indexes. And the humidity was also nasty. It still wasn't nearly as bad as the heavy, sticky air here in Charleston, but it certainly wasn't the break from heat that I was hoping for.
All of that said, I just ran when I had time, enjoyed the scenes of the city, and walked, walked, walked all over the place. And enjoyed my vacation (full post of pictures coming soon).

Workout summary
I'm skipping my planned/what happened format for this week since it was so atypical. And so, this post will also be pretty short. There's not much to talk about other than vacation stuff and I'm saving that for my full vacation recap post. But here are a few highlights:
I wish we had had more time back home. One week is never enough, and I think the next time we go, we're going to go for longer. We rented a house on AirBnB and it was like we lived there again (one of these years, the house we own will actually be our vacation house). Until then, it's nice to know there are nice places that also accept our dogs.
This week, it's back to reality, and back to base building.
