Recipe: Buttery Butterscotch Coffee

Yes, this coffee needs "butter" in its name twice.

I'm having a moment with butterscotch. Really, I've always loved it. When I was a kid, my uncle would always come over and give me butterscotch hard candies, and I'd always eat a few too many.

But now I have Starbucks to thank for this recent resurgence of affection. The Smoked Butterscotch Latte might be my new addiction. But instead of buying one everyday, I figured I could make my own (possibly less sugary) version.

So I did. And it wasn't half bad.

Here's how to make it:

Brew up some of your favorite coffee (mine is the Kiawah Island Blend from Charleston Coffee Roasters).

Add 2 overflowing tablespoons (or more if you like more flavor) of homemade butterscotch (here's a good recipe - I also add a teaspoon of sea salt). Please use homemade butterscotch, not the nasty store bought stuff!

Top off with your favorite unflavored creamer or coconut milk and a tablespoon of coconut oil.

Toss them all in a shaker bottle (or blender) and shake or blend until foamy and frothy.

Pour into your coffee mug and enjoy!
