Weekly workouts: December

Oops. It's been a month since I posted my weekly workouts. I've still been working out! Life just got a little crazy there for a bit with the holidays and wrapping up things at my old job (yep, I started a new job this week - exciting stuff!). It all sort of fell into my lap when I wasn't really looking, but it was a great opportunity and I couldn't pass it up. But that made for a slightly nutty time at an already busy time of year. 

So anyway...now I'm mainly posting my so there's a record of my entire training for Charleston here on my blog. Otherwise, there's not a whole lot to say for the month of December other than it still felt like summer here, so running was a hot, nasty, sweatfest. Good times. Also, in case you missed it, I deferred Kiawah because I was exhausted. 

I had a few good long runs in there and one really weird disaster of a run where I had horrible side stitches no matter how fast or slow I went. I also got to the bridge (or The Bridge, as we locals know it), which means hills, and ran with some friends on a very foggy, humid Saturday morning. We rewarded ourselves with post-run mimosas. 

Here's my December rundown:

Week 17 workout summary (11/30-12/6):

  • Monday: OFF
  • Tuesday:  OFF
  • Wednesday: Track workout - 7.02 miles - 8x800 w/ 400s as recoveries plus WU and CD. Splits: 6:53, 6:55, 6:59, 7:01, 6:59, 7:02, 7:03, 7:10
  • Thursday: OFF
  • Friday: Easy run - 6.17 miles (8:49 pace)
  • Saturday: Easy run - 4.04 miles (8:43 pace)
  • Sunday: Long run - 9.14 miles (8:48 pace)

Total miles:  Run - 26.37 / Total runs: 4  / Total core workouts: 0 / Total strength/conditioning workouts: 0 / Total crosstraining: 0

Week 18 workout summary (12/7-12/13):

  • Monday: OFF
  • Tuesday:  Yoga (30 minutes)
  • Wednesday: Easy run - 4.08 miles (8:46 pace)
  • Thursday: OFF
  • Friday: OFF
  • Saturday: Reindeer Run 5K
  • Sunday: Tempo run - 8.01 miles (8:31 pace) - 4 middle miles at tempo (8:08, 8:05, 8:13, 7:55)

Total miles:  Run - 15.19  / Total runs: 3 / Total core workouts: 1 / Total strength/conditioning workouts: 0 / Total crosstraining: 0

Week 19 workout summary (12/14-12/20):

  • Monday: OFF
  • Tuesday:  OFF
  • Wednesday: Weird side-stitch-riddled run - 7.02 miles (9:23 pace)
  • Thursday: Easy run - 3.13 miles (8:36 pace)
  • Friday: OFF
  • Saturday: Nexton Cocoa Cup 5K plus 2 miles on the course with D - 5.1 miles
  • Sunday: Long run - 10.16 miles (8:58 pace)

Total miles:  Run - 25.41 miles / Total runs: 4  / Total core workouts: 0 / Total strength/conditioning workouts: 0 / Total crosstraining: 0

Week 20 workout summary (12/21-12/27):

  • Monday: OFF
  • Tuesday:  Easy run - 4.09 (8:37 pace)
  • Wednesday: OFF
  • Thursday: Yoga (30 minutes) + Family bike ride - 4.15 miles
  • Friday: Easy run - 7.11 miles (8:54 pace)
  • Saturday: Easy run at the bridge - 5 miles (no watch)
  • Sunday: Long run - 12 miles (watch died, but this was a slogfest in the heat and humidity)

Total miles:  Run - 28.20 / Total runs: 4  / Total core workouts: 1 / Total strength/conditioning workouts: 0 / Total crosstraining: 1


And that sends me into peak week plus the taper, which includes a fun run with a friend at the Disney Half Marathon! See you on the other side of peak week!
